Malo lelei sieku famili mou fefe hake?!

Yooo how's everyone doing back home??

Sorry I've been without a phone for over a month but here's a short update on my life lately.

Well after 1 year of being here in Tonga I finally got the news last week from my mission President that I'd be transferring to the island  Vava'u here in Tonga. I've been looking forward to serving in Vava'u the minute I got my call because this is the place where my grandpa is from and a lot of my family's history. Matter of fact I've always had a desire to go to Vava'u ever since I was a kid so this was exciting news.

I took a 8 hour boat ride over night with probably 10 other missionaries and that was a cool expirence just sleeping on the floor as the boat was rocking back and forth. I had just got transferred from the island "Ha'apai" I was on for 8 months. Ha'apai is a smaller island, flat, one road, very few stores, pretty beaches and lots of coconut trees. Because Ha'apai is smaller and less people the church is also smaller there with only 1 stake. As woke up seeing us pull into Vava'u I was shocked to see a bunch of islands with hills and mountains. Everything I heard about Vava'u before is true. Ha'apai is beautiful but Vava'u is just very special. The water and seeing islands with pretty green mountains. When we arrived I got my assigned area and I work in a village "Talau" which is on a hill and right next to town "Neiafu" so we cover all of town as well. This area is a lot different from my last. We cover 3 big wards and it's so weird seeing so much people, cars and much more stores. I know it is small compared to home or over seas but from where I was just at this was shocking to me to see so much life and people actually busy. There are 5 stakes here soo way more members and they are also building the Temple which will be finished in about a year from now. There are also way more missionaries serving here so that is nice having others around and closer. I am serving here with Elder Fifita from New Zealand and so far he seems really cool. He plays rugby back home and he's my first companion that I've had in over 10 months that already knows the language so that will be really nice. We've been in a trio since I got here last Thursday because the other Elder is waiting to catch a boat to another island (Niua). Although I've only been here a few days I already love it here so much. Every Saturday they have like a "fair" at the market here in town so yesterday we went to check it out and it was cool to see all the stuff people were selling. There are usually people selling fruits and vegetables  everyday but Saturdays people have stands  and sell like clothes, bracelets, bags and stuff like that. One stand this lady was very kind and gave me and my companion matching ties and these are special ties because it is from a cloth "ngatu" which is  a very prized possession here in Tonga. She told us she is a member and shared her faith in us missionaries so that was awesome.  If there's another thing I've noticed about Vava'u is that the people are much happier people and more kind. Not saying that the other islands aren't but just that I've notice the difference since I got here. This place really is the promise land here in Tonga haha. It is so special and doesnt feel real. They even have nice restaurants here and a lot of the members that see us in town offer to pay for us. My first time having a burger in so long and I enjoyed every bit of it. Also another thing to know about Vava'u is the Golden pineapples h ere . These are probably the best fruit I've ever had and there is soo much of it. My companion says I'll get sick of eating it just cause of how much we eat them but I told him I'm not going to haha but we'll see about that. Where we live is very cool since we are on the hill and also it is apart of like a rental here so it's different then most of the small mission homes. Also the view is very pretty.

That's just a quick little update on my life lately I'm excited for this new chapter for the expirences and people to meet. There also seems to be much more work here so I only look forward to that. I hope you all are doing well back home. This work has changed my life everyday and I am always grateful for this opportunity.

Miss and love you all.
