JayLynn E. Loves

Today is the day that I make the attempt to create this amazing party, Kouign Amann! Yes! This is one of my favorite sweet treat. If you haven't heard of it or experience eating one, where have you been living? It's so yummy. Full of yummy cartelized goodness that my mouth waters just thinking about it. Right now the dough is proofing and the butter is chilling, so I figure I write about it real quick before I finish the prep and cooking process. I will take some photos and show you the final results. I hope ya'll having a great Monday. Happy Eating everyone!!

If you want to make it at home, here is the recipe that we are trying out. Click on the link below to follow the instructions to make this yummy goodness!

Uncle Mika email to Sister Tupuola:

Hey Sister Tupuola, it's so nice hearing about ur progress!!! Sorry i havent written you. But Jay is very good at writing and so everything she says I am with her on it!! Lol anyways Im glad the mission is treating u well and we all miss u over here. I got to speak with Grant about his mission and he is so humbled and grateful he was able to serve. You also have been humble enough to serve and through your service and dedication it has not only blessed your own family but me and Jay as well. We see the blessings that have come into our home because of your service. Stay dedicated and work hard. The lord needs servants that will carry his work with faith and a steadfast heart. I love u very much and pray that he will guide you in every step that you take as you do his work. You will return with honor and the lord will bless you because of it!!

Sister Tupuola's response:

Thank you Uncle Mika for taking the time to email me! You guys are awesome! I love getting your letters! They are the best! I am glad to hear that you and Jay are doing well! It's cool for me to see the blessings as I have been able to serve a mission. And its cool to see the Lord bless the family as well! I am excited to go back and hear all of Grant's experiences! the mission definetly has humbled me. haha. I am learning a lot about humility its great. Well thank you Uncle Mika! I know my time on this mission is coming so I will continue to work hard every day! Thank you for your love and support!

Love Sister Tupuola
This week was crazy good! Here's what happened!

JOHN!
Do you remember that guy that I wrote about last week? The guy Sister Squire felt prompted to talk to? Well we were able to meet with him again!! and it was soo good! We sat on his lawn and we taught the whole Plan of Salvation! He has never heard about this plan but finds it very interesting. He was really interested and asked great questions. We also talked about many other things such as Temples, Family History and the Book of Mormon. He was very open and honest and told us his concern about the Book of Mormon and about Joseph Smith. We were able to explain more about the book of mormon and testified of Joseph Smith. We told him that the only way to know for himself if these things were true was if he read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. He said he would read it and that he'd pray about what we've shared with him. He said we could come back any time! It was a great experience!

PATTY!
Okay! What a miracle! So Patty is our new person we are have been teaching and she is seriously the most golden person everrr. Doesn't ever have any questions or concerns. She just nods her head and says yes to everything we teach. She believes in what we have taught her so far and she has come to church 3 times now!
SIster Squire and I feel that she is ready for baptism so this week we planned to extend her the invitation!
I felt we needed to pray for a specific date to commit her to so we both knelt down in prayer and asked Heavenly Father to help us find a day for Patty to get baptized. After the prayer we sat in silence for a while as we looked at the calender. We were looking in the month of August but nothing stood out. I then flipped the page to the month of September and immediately the
22nd stood out to me. "Thats the date!" I said and Sister Squire agreed and so we went with it!....
So fast forward to our next lesson with Patty, We were able to bring a member, Sister Holdeman and her daughter with us. We taught about Faith, Repentance and Baptism, the lesson went really well and everything flowed great. We were then able to extend Patty the invitation to get baptized!
(At the end of the lesson)
Me: So Patty, will you follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone holding the priesthood authority of God??

Dead Silence,,,(it was kinda awkward cuz she didnt respond)

Me: We are holding a baptismal service on September 22nd. Will you prepare yourself to be baptized on that day?

Patty then starts to cry and she looks up at us and tells us that September 22nd is a special day for her. Its not only her Birthday but it was the day she lost close family relative. The spirit was super strong in the room and we were all in tears. Sister Squires said she is not one to cry but she was also in tears haha. It was the coolest thing.
Patty told us that because we chose that day, that is was a sign from God that this was the right thing for her to do. It was the most spiritual experience that I've had on my mission!

Marie and Robbie!
We were walking around waiting to go in to our lesson with the Pittams, a less active family. We had 20 minutes so we just walked around their apartment complex. We ran into this guy named robbie. He was doing something with his flowers so we asked him if he needed any help. He said no. He asked us if we were the Mormons and we said yes. He went on to explain that he is investigating the Jehovah Witness faith. He said his wife is a Jehovah Witness. His wife then came out and we talked for a while. They asked us if we wanted some cucumbers so said sure and then they invited us in their home. They told us to sit in their living room and then all of sudden the wife, Marie comes out with not only the cucumbers but a whole bunch of JW pamphlets. She asks if we have time to exchange beliefs and so we said yes. Although it didnt turn out to be an exchanging of beliefs. She didnt give us any time to talk lol. She just went on about how we are wrong and the Joseph Smith is of satan. We told her we had to leave but she asked us if we could come back. We told her that we could come back if she lets us share some of our thoughts and beliefs. She said she would let us talk next time but that she would have to tell us if its wrong. lol it was probably the most wierdest experience. She was super nice but we probably won't be going back any time soon. haha

Paster Dan!
We were given a referral to go visit a Pastor who lives in our area. And well It didn't go too well. We were kinda hesitant to even go at first knowing he is a pastor of some church in the area. But we decided to go anyways. We biked over to his house and we met him and his wife as they just got home and were getting out of their car. Pastor Dan then starts to preach to us and we felt like we were being attacked. He said that he had once been a mormon and has been taught what we've been taught. He said an angel came to him and told him that our church was actually not true. He told us that we are being deiceved and that he felt really bad for us. I was getting angry and felt we needed to leave. He told us to go read the Bible and pray for forgiveness. He said that he has proof that our religion is wrong and told us that we could come back so he could show us. But we felt we needed to go so we just left him as he still tried to talk to us. It was an interesting experience!

well this week was so awesome and im sad that im out of time to write everything else that happened! but until next week!
I was also able to go on exchanges with Sister Veikoso from hawaii! We had a blast!

I love food and learning how to make something that I've always wanted to try. Today was the day that my husband and I made Crab & Shrimp boil. We wanted to make sure we did it right, so we watched tons of Youtube videos, read reviews online and blogs. So we found a recipe online and followed it to the T! It was a great success and I'm happy mainly for my husband for making the effort on making a great seafood meal for us. This is definitely in my books as the "Best Meal" of the year! If you like seafood and never tried crab boil, you are missing out and you need to try it.
Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Eating!
I want to wish my sporty yet gentle spirited nephew Zion a Happy Birthday! You have grown up to be a handsome young man. Keep up with your school work and continue to be awesome in sports!
May you have a splendid day with your family.

We luv you!

Aunty Jay & Uncle Mika

This week I'm trying to make more home cooked meals to save on the money. We have a ton of extra chicken and I wanted to make something I can whip up really quick and it taste good. I had some teriyaki sauces and tons of veggies. So one meal I made teriyaki chicken stir fry tacos, the other meal I made Teriyaki chicken stir fry with white rice and another meal I made Teriyaki Chicken stir fry Salad. The meals came out great, delicious and very easy to make. Plus the calories were low and fulfilling. I'm excited to make more meals with one or two of the same ingredients.
Happy Eating Everyone!!

I want to wish my spunky, kind of mysterious and funny niece Natalia a Happy Sweet 16 Birthday! I know that you're at Girls Camp, but I wanted to express my love and gratitude to you on this special day. You've grown into an amazing young lady. I hope that your birthday will be fun and memorable. Have a great day sweetie!
Luv,
Aunty Jay
I just want to congratulate my two nieces Eve and Isabella on entering the Temple today and receiving their Endowments. Just a few moments ago, Bella texted my husband Mika and letting him know that she and her sister Eve went through the LDS Temple today and expressed how much she wanted to thank both of us for being a good spiritual influence to her and her siblings life. What a blessing it is to know that by the simple acts of Love, Compassion, Good influence and being genuine towards others, can really make an impact on someone. And I'm very honored to know that my husband and I had that kind of an influence. :) We were both surprised by her text because we haven't seen or spoken to her and her family in a few years. But I'm glad that both Eve and Bella made a wonderful spiritual choice to enter into the Holy House of the Lord tonight. Thanks Bella for informing us about this amazing experience and we wish both of you the best of luck in all that you do in the near future.

Much love,
Aunty JayLynn
Congrats Letitia for bringing a adorable baby boy into this world.
Jeremiah Ausage Moors
Born today (7/24/2018), weighing 7 lbs 12 oz, 19 inches.
May you have a great day relaxing, recuperating and spending quality time with your bundle of joy!

Dear Jeremiah,
It was about 3 months ago, that many of your family members knew that your mommy was pregnant with you. Soon after the news, everyone was very concern for your mommy and your well being. To know that you would one day grow up to know your family linage, I wanted to express my love to you as my little grand nephew. Sweetie, know that you have a bigger family who loves you no matter where you go, what you do or who are will become. Uncle Mika and I were your mom's first option to be your adopted parents. And it was very hard for myself to not want to be your mommy, but there are many things that prevented me from being what you really needed. I know that you will never know why I couldn't take you, but just know that if I could have the health and strength I need to be there for you, I would take it in a heart beat. Your mommy loves you very much. We all do. I pray that you will grow up to be a Man of God. A good hearted young man who loves everyone. Be respectful, caring, helpful, independent, out going, spiritual and very intellectual. Study hard in the Gospel principles and in school. Honor your parents, honor your priesthood, honor your faith & testimony of God. May the Lord forever be your guide and protector!

Love always,
Aunty JayLynn
It was a wonderful, hot summer day and my husband and I wanted to go window shopping for s few furniture we need for our office space. So what better place to visit but Ikea. I really like that store! If I had a big house and I had money to splurge, this would be the place I would go to. There are so many great room ideas and furniture that I want for our little space. But reality kicks in and I have to be reasonable on what is a need or a want. Besides the amazing products and room displays, they have a restaurant on the second floor that I really like. Okay when you think of wholesale places you would think that the food would be the simple greasy fast food like hotdogs, fries, simple sandwiches, soda, etc. Actually they do have that downstairs for that quick snack. But if you want a really good meal, than you need to visit the Swedish Market, Restaurant and Bistro. Its full of yummy and healthy food options. It has just the right amount of food on your plate and it will make you feel content. Everything is freshly made and ready to be served. The line was short, the cooks were friendly and ready to plate up your choice of meal and there is a ton of sitting options to enjoy your meal. They even have a kids menu, salad bar, dessert station, and drink station.
As we went through the line, we saw many yummy food options to eat and I chose their Braised beef with mashed potatoes, mixed veggies & a small salad (540 Calories meal / 280 calories salad) and Mika got the Salmon fillet with cauliflower mash and mixed veggies (485 Calories). And to be quite honest with you, it tasted really delicious. It had the right amount of flavor and seasoning that we were both amazed by it. Since we've been watching our food intake and calories, we both noticed that our tasted buds are high-ten and sensitive.  Plus it has made our cravings and appetites more towards the smaller and lesser intake. But anyways, this restaurant is awesome and we enjoyed every moment of it. If you're in the area, walk through their amazing display rooms, drop your kids off at the play center and even enjoy their soft serve ice cream, which is the bomb.com! (Its really good)

KARL
We have been teaching Karl twice a week now to prepare him for baptism! We moved his baptismal date to September 1st so we can make sure we get everything ready. We are excited for him and his son, Cayden. They are excited for their baptism!

PATTY!
We met with Patty again this week and taught her the Plan of Salvation! She understood everything and said this all seems familar to her. She again said that everything makes sense and she had no questions! She is super interested in learning about this Gospel. She was able to come to church again this week! She really enjoys it and feels very welcomed in at church! She has made a lot of friends in Relief Society.

Jimmy D.
So Jimmy is a person that I had the opportunity to teach a while back in Fallon. And I recieved news from the Elders who now serve in Fallon that Jimmy will be getting baptized in September!! He was able to get off parole and has given up everything for the Lord!! I am sad that I won't be able to attend his baptism but I am super happy for him! I know he has been waiting a long time!! It was awesome being able to find him and teach him!
Biking in the Rain!
The Lord has answered my prayers and has blessed us with Rain! It has cooled down a lot this week and we are loving it! Sister Squire and I have been having tons of fun! We have met a lot of people as well! Most of them think we're crazy for biking in the rain but the work must go on. haha

Brandon.
Sister Squire and I were riding bikes when we saw a man in his garage. We waved at him and said Hi and then he asks, "Are you the Sisters of God?" and we both said, "Yes!" and then he went on to explain his religious background and expressed his love for the Bible. He asked who we were and we told him we were Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He then goes on to say, "Oh great, at least your not the Mormons because I hate them." We looked at each other but didn't say anything to him. He asked where we were from and we said, Utah. And then he asked us how its like living there surrounded by Mormons. lol We said we love it! and then after talking with him for a while about Jesus Christ and the Bible. I pulled out the Book of Mormon and asked him if he's read it. He said, "NO! Why in the world would I read that? Wait, Do you read it?" We said "Yes! Its the Best book!"and then It clicked in his mind that we were Mormons. He just laughed and then We were able to tell him about the Book of Mormon and how it is comparable to the Bible and how it can help one come closer to Christ. He then brought up his concern about how he doesn't think this book is from God. We ended up giving him the copy and we invited him to read and pray about it. He said yeah he'll do it and said we could come back anytime! It was really cool to see his heart kinda soften as we kept talking to him.

John!
Sister Squires felt prompted to stop to talk to a guy sitting on his porch. We were able to create genuine conversation and talked about the weather and the fires going on. He said he's been going through a rough time with family which created a perfect opportunity for us to bring up the gospel! We testified that the messages we have to share will bring him and his greater peace and happiness through trials. He said he's open for anything right now and invited us back! I am so grateful that Sister Squire was able to follow that prompting of the Spirit. I didn't even see him as we were passing by! I know the Lord continues to put people in our path!
