Elder Maikeli C Wolfgramm email: 1 YEAR✔️🛐
In a year from now I see myself back home enjoying a nice Thanksgiving dinner with all my family👀🍲...
This past week I ended up going to Tongatapu (main island) again for another leadership meeting. It ended up being a great two days a lot of learning new things and ways to help our mission progress. That also meant we got to the Temple again and I seriously count that blessing because everytime I go I have been assured by the the Holy Spirit that it really is the House of the Lord here on earth. If you have been to the Tonga Nuku'alofa Temple you know how special it is.
One of the mornings some of us Elders went to do Baptisms at early at 5:30 am and that was for sure one of the highlights of that trip. It really reminded of the times going early in the morning to the Temple in my youth. Also after we came out somebody gave us a bag of frozen Pineapple and that felt like I was right back at Disneyland eating Dolewhip Ice cream haha . I think Pineapple from Vava'u has to be the best fruit I've ever had🍍... Sorry you just gotta try it to understand🤷♀️.
Being in Tonga all of us leaders from the outer island had a nice Thanksgiving dinner at President Kaufusi's nice home and we also sang Christmas songs there. So got a little taste of homs. Also that has to be the nicest home I've been in since I got to Tonga.
Since being with my companion here in Hihifo Haapai we hadn't had 1 real teaching yet and we have been praying and looking hard. Friday morning (the day I get back from Tonga) I get a call from one of our members saying her friend who said she always sees us, wants us to teach her son. This was a huge awnser to our prayers because it felt like the Lord handed him right to us. This boys name is Folovela and is 14 years old. Of the 1 year I've been here this was one of the best teachings I've had and been excited about. Folovela is a very good smart kid and I can only see him looking for truth just as the Prophet Joseph Smith did at his age. Our teaching went really well and we look foward to following up with him this week. After our teaching his mother (isn't a member) told us how she wishes for one day for Folovela her son to go on a mission and be a missionary just like us. That really stuck with me and I look foward to Folovela's future as we continue to pray and teach him the Gospel.
Of all places I never thought I'd learn to drive mannual in Tonga. Being a leader here in Haapai means driving missionaries around on the one road with potholes everywhere, gerttng them from places that are a bit longer of a walk or for transfers. I guess our mission only has manual cars here in Haapai. When my mission President asked if I know how to drive stick I told him yes😄... I just had never had done it before. Turns out it is almost the same as riding a Quad or dirt bike except doing it in a big van haha. Also still weird driving on the left side of the road but don't worry I got it all down just like that🚗👍.
I know two years is a small sacrifice but I wouldn't trade these two years for anything else. The amount of Spiritual growth I've had in just 1 year is crazy. I think that means the second will be a lot of physical growth haha. I seriously count the blessing to be here every day. This is the greatest work taking place on earth today and I wouldnt want to do it anywhere else but in Tonga. I have found true happiness, peace, and love. I have also found the true meaning of Faith.
I love this work and only look foward to another year. Doing nothing but giving myself to the Lord and serving his children here in Tonga. There's a verse in Mathew that has really stuck with me throughout my work:
25 "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."
I love this verse because it is only true. I have found more life in this past year then I have ever before.
I love and miss you all lots epically during my favorite time of year 🎄🎁🙏
