Young Women 2nd Counselor! I was called in the Bishop's office today and he extended the call to me to be in the Young Women's Presidency. I'm very excited to be part of a wonderful organization. I've been blessed with so many examples in my life to be able to learn and grow in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Also to build a strong relationship with the many women in my life. I've learn from many great women, especially my Mom. She was my greatest influence and blessing. Everything I've learn was from her. Service, humility, gratitude, missionary work, and many more amazing qualities she has shown to many. I hope that I can continue to live faithfully and use her examples to share and inspire many throughout my life. I can't wait to learn more about whats new in Young Women and fulfill my calling the best that I know I can.
Okay I usually don't talk about Anime but today is an exception. I grew up watching Anime with my twin brother Henry and it was pretty cool and fun to watch. Since than I haven't been watching much due to work and life. But now that I'm a bit older and have a bit more time, I got back into it and so has my husband. We watch the TV series and enjoyed the characters story. Now that they came out with a movie to continue the story plot, we wanted to watch it ASAP! So right now I'm going to get ready and enjoy the movie with my brother and husband. I guess its a family movie night yet again. Have a blessed day everyone!
Another week has passed! To be honest it wasn't the greatest week. We had a hard time trying to find people who were interested. But there was some good moments!
Don
We met Don about a month ago as we were walking down the street. He was drinking coffee on his porch. We've met with him a couple times now and we've taught him the Plan of Salvation. The message really seemed to interest him and he has expressed his desires a couple times to come to our church and to eventually become a member. He has told us that he wants to keep learning more and that he would like to meet with us regularly. He is an older man in his 70s and lives with his wife and his daughter and granddaughter. They aren't interested but support Don and his decision he has made to meet with us.
He said that he was traveling through Utah when his car broke down at a gas station and a woman stopped to help him out. He found out that she was a mormon and he's been interested in learning what we believe ever since that experience. I am very grateful for that woman! Just by her helping Don at that time made a huge impact on his life! And I don't think she knows it! But Don is super awesome and is really interested in learning about our beliefs.
Exchanges!
We went on Exchanges with Sister McCray and Sister Morey who serve up in Dayton. (45 min from our area). We all spent the day in the same area but we split off into different streets trying to find people to teach. I went with SIster McCray who is from Arizona. We came out on the field together. She was my MTC roommate! It was fun being able to serve with her and to see how she's changed since the MTC. After a day of riding our bikes having no luck finding people, we decided to head back to the apartment. But then Sister McCray felt prompted to ride down a certain street. We ended up meeting a woman named Zelda. We caught her as she was about to go inside her home. She had spent the day packing up her house to move to Carson. She is an older lady and its hard for her to get around. She asked us a lot of questions like what are you doing out so late? Why are you riding bikes in dresses? haha but after talking with her for a while she said she could use our help packing. She has been really stressed and then she opened up to us about how her roommate just passed away and her roommates family is sueing her becasue they think she killed her. It was crazy but we ended up giving her a book of mormon and testified of the peace that it brings into our lives. We also gave her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and scheduled a time to come back to help her pack. It was truly a miracle!
Richard D
We had a lesson with Richard and his wife and we watched "The Hope of Gods light." Its a mormon message. He loved it and then expressed his feelings about how he has been depressed and frustrated with God because he really wants to get baptized. He asked if we could join him in prayer and he said, "God I love you so so much and I really want to get baptized. I want it so bad. Please let me get baptized before I die." Sister Squire and I started tearing up. It was the most heartfelt prayer we've ever heard. It made me think how blessed I am to be baptized and to be able to make those covenants with my heavenly father. I look up to Richard so much.
Patty
Patty came to church this week with her daughter and her daughters friend who is not a member! She is doing good. She still has some hurt feelings about us calling off her baptismal date. but she is slowly coming at peace with it. We are still trying to work with her to help her overcome drinking coffee.
Well The transfer is almost over and I think I will be leaving Gardnerville soon. :( I am very grateful for this gospel and the experiences Ive had so far on my mission. I still have so much to learn!!! I am excited for what this week has to offer! Its crazy how many miracles happen every single day! But I hope you all have a great week! Love ya!
Sister Tupuola
Getting sick is one of the most annoying time for me, well I get sick all the time and it shouldn't be too surprising for me. heheh But what I mean is that getting the worst sore throat, congestion, stuffy nose, achy and weak body kind of illness! Yes you know what I'm talking about, the Flu! Ugh one of the most irritable experience to go through throughout the year. Spring time its Allergies and minor colds. Summer time heavy allergies and some cold here and there. Oh but the Fall & Winter time is when all hell breaks loose for Colds and Flu's for me. Its like they wait all year just to get me good during this time to make me feel more miserable than I already feel. Damn flu! For years I've tried every home remedies, over the counter drugs , trick and tips from every Tom, Dick & Harry to help me get better and majority of those medicines just make me feel lousy or worst! So what do i usually do whenever I get sick....absolutely NOTHING! Yup you heard right, nothing! Nah I'm just kidding. If I did that then I wouldn't be here and you wouldn't be reading my blog if were so. Honestly I just make a hot cup of ginger and lemon tea with no sugar or sweeteners. Straight up like that. On certain occasions I would eat half a orange or lemon with a red Li Hing Mui seed to add a little savory saltiness to my sour and tangy fruits. And I cant forget my humidifier and comfy Korean blanket to keep me warm but not overly hot during my sickness. So as I lay here in bed writing in my blog, I just want to say that going through the yucky sickness of the season, I'll always be thankful that I can overcome it and enjoy my time being healthy and more lively. Enjoy having the privileged to be mobile, have a good health, and live each moment of everyday with gratitude and a smile. Have a blessed day everyone and take good care of your health during the cold season!! Cough cough, Bye!
Birthday's are usually exciting and fun, but for my husband he wanted to chill on his birthday. And that's what we did...chill at home! A simple guy with not much to entertain him. That is one thing I do admire about him. We not only chill at home but we did a few errands like sending out our first missionary care package to his nephew Iohani at the MTC in Provo, since he emailed me yesterday and needed a few things. We were both happy to get it and shipped it out to him. Next we ate a nice free birthday lunch at Denny's, which was very yummy. If you ever wanted a free meal on your birthday, go to Denny's and you get a nice Grand Slam breakfast. Totally worth going. Since we didn't have any plans, we spontaneously thought about the new fantasy park in Pleasant Grove called Evermore and wanted to take a visit. It's a really cool park with a cool twist of creative fantasy, mystical vibe from historical stories and myths put into one big park in Utah. Let's just say that's up my alley not so much my husband. But since we were up to do anything, we bought our tickets ($29.00 each) to go to their soft grand opening tonight. There were trick or treating for families and live performances to enjoy watching while walking through the park. I would say its a beautiful park with amazing concepts of Lore mythology and live actors. The park wasn't fully finished but will be fully operational on September 29. At first we were kind of disappointed because we wanted to see more but it was only open around 7pm which was a bit dark. But we were able to see what we can, I honestly didn't mind it but felt it was a bit of a waste to come before it was fully done. The good news is, we get to come back for free on the Grand Opening night. Now to me that is totally worth going back. The Halloween Lore theme was phenomenal around the park. From the garden, the buildings, actors costumes, the landscapes and food, everything felt and looked real. They really put a ton of thoughts to the details. Even though it was dark we could still see and feel the buildings and pumpkin scarecrow around the park. They had a cute snack station where you can buy drinks and snacks. i wanted to try their candy apples but the lines were long so I just passed. I'll get it next time. There were so many buildings and bridges still under construction but looked really cool from afar. What made the night even more spooky but a bit romantic, was the full moon! Oh yes the moon was out and shinning through the park like a mystical aura sprinkling pixie dust everywhere. It was a magical night. Well after watching the Fire dancers perform, we ended the night with a nice dinner at In and Out burger and a nice yummy cake I made for Mika at home. So to some things out for my husband birthday, it was simple, relaxing and fun. Happy Birthday Mika! Luv you!
Its another year to be appreciative and happy. I thank the Lord for blessing me for having you in my life. Even though you may think that your life isn't as important than you think, but to me you are worth more than gold or the highest value of any physical material. Your birth has so much significance that life it self wouldn't be the same. We wouldn't have met and your siblings wouldn't have the coolest, down to earth brother like yourself to have in their lives. You were meant to be here at this time for so many reasons even I can't even count!?! I love you so much Mika and I'm forever grateful for you. From your spunky attitude, your charming personality, your adorable smile, your stubbornness, your inner anger that can be a bit over the top sometimes. But most of all your amazing spiritual mind and your passion on the gospel. We may sometimes may not see eye to eye, but the beauty of it all we know each other like no other. I pray that the Lord bless you always and keep you safe. Have a wonderful day and remember how much I love you and how much you are truly loved!
Happy Birthday My Love!
Love always & forever.
your wife,
JayLynn
Patty had her baptismal interview with our district leader this week and she mentioned that she took a sip of coffee that morning. The requirements for baptism strictly states that the Word of Wisdom must be kept 2 weeks prior to baptsim. It was the hardest thing for us to tell her that she couldn't get baptized on the 22nd and that we would have to wait another two weeks. It was hard because she was so excited to get baptized on her birthday. It was a very special day for her. She felt so embarrassed and guilty but we tried to tell her that it was okay and that everyone makes mistakes. She sent us a message the next morning that made me so sad. She said she did lots of praying and decided that she is not going to make the commitment to be baptized. it was hard for me because I know she is so ready. Satan is working hard on her. We aren't exactly sure what the reasoning is behind why she doesn't want to be baptized anymore. But we respect her decision and will continure to love her! She told us that she will continue going to church which is great! And when the time is right, in the Lord's timing she will get baptized!
Saylos
We had such a great lesson with the Saylos this week. They didn't read in the Book of Mormon like we had asked them to last week so we read with them. We read in Alma 37:36-48 and talked about centering our life on Christ and having faith in him. We read about the Liahona and taught that we have a modern day Liahona which is the scripures. They said they would read as a family this week and then they invited us to make sushi with them on Tuesday!
Ruler of Hell
We met an interesting man as we were riding our bikes the other day. We stopped to ask if he needed help as he was trying to fix his car. He said no. We talked to him about his car and then later in the conversation asked him if he was religious. He said he doesn't have a faith but that he wants to rule over hell. He said that if everyone is trying to get to heaven, there will be no one in hell, therefore, he wants to go to hell because he doesn't like people. And then he said he wants to become the ruler of hell. And then he starts to laugh all creepily so we just left haha that man is crazy.
Kings Canyon Waterfall
On Monday we went hiking with all the other missionaries up in Carson City. It was fun and then after we had a BBQ at a members house!
Youth Activity
We got to help the youth this week for mutual learn how to share the gospel with their friends. It turned out really well. Everyone got missionary nametags and we did a lot of roleplays on different situations. it was fun!
Louis
We decided to make cookies for a less active family, the Pittams. But they didn't answer their door so we walked back to our car. As we were walking back a man and his little Daughter get out of their car. We smile and wave and ask how their doing. I then hear a voice in my head say, "Give them the cookies" so I said, "Would you guys like some cookies?" He said yeah sure! We talked for a while. His name is Louis and his daughters name is Ta'iri which means "My heart" in some native american language. They belong to the Wicho (I cant spell it) tribe in Mexico. He is really nice! He gave us his address and said we could come by anytime!
Elder Ochoa
We had a zone conference this week and Elder Ochoa from the Seventy came to speak to us. He had each of us (over a hundred missionaries) go up and introduce ourselves and tell him where we are from. After everyone had the chance to shake his hand he went up on the pulpit and said that as he shook our hands he felt that some of us need to repent. He talked a lot about obedience. It was really cool and I left the meeting very spiritually uplifted
Maria!
We helped Maria and her husband Neil move in last week. We decided to go over and see how they were doing. She explained to us that she is a very set in her ways Catholic. but then she started asking us questions about who we were. She didn't know anything about our church. she asked if we were Christian and what are your core beliefs were. She also saw the book of Mormon that I was holding and asked what it was. She asked who the founder of our church was. We taught her briefly about the Restoration and about how Jesus Christ is our founder and that his church that he established on the earth a long time ago is on the earth today. She really didn't know anything about us. We ended up giving up pamphlets and the Book of Mormon. She said she would read it because she's curious. it was really cool.
Kathleen
We decided to go visit an older woman named Kathleen who we saw was a nonmember on our records. She let us in.She had a few dim lights around her home but we couldnt see where we were going. It was so dark and there was junk piled everywhere! We followed her to her room and then she starts talking to us as she smokes her cigarette. She said that her boyfriend passed away a year ago and that shes been wanting the Lord to let her die already. She explained how her boyfriend died of a heart attack and then she points to me and says. "actually he died right where your sitting!" It was kinda creepy. We ended up sharing a message about how Christ can help us overcome anything. We helped clean up her kitchen and she was very grateful and said we were angels from heaven. She was really nice and has gone through a lot.
I do enjoy visiting family and eating a yummy meal. It was so nice visiting my sister in law Tiare and her husband, Ila at their apartment not too far from my place. Tiare was kind enough to make a yummy fish dish served with a delicious sauce, mash potatoes, green beans and a dinner roll. For dessert she bake peach cobbler and also had root beer floats to enjoy. Mika and I had a good time talking stories, watching random videos and eating more yummy food. Thank so much to Tiare and Ila for the awesome hospitality they've always shown us every time we visit them. Quality time with family is important, but I understand that not many have this opportunity to be with family or have any. So my suggestion is to spend time with people who matters to you and create fun, long lasting memories with them. I know it is worth it every moment.
I'm in love with these products. I usually dont wear red, but "Patty Pout" is a nice dark red that is perfect for the Fall/Autumn season. I tried out these stunning color eye shadows and the pigmentation is beautiful. My favorite color out of the quads is"Damn that Olive" and "I'm into it". A gorgeous olive green and dark brown red shadow. Best combo to create a stunning smokey eye look. By far one of my favorite collection of Patrick Starr and Mac.
I was so happy that MAC Cosmetics created a a makeup line featuring the one and only amazing singer Aalliyah. I got only what was availible in the collection since I was very busy to get it. But what I do have is pretty awesome and beautiful. I really love the lipsticks. Perfect for the fall or Halloween. I really love the color choice for the palette and I'll try to post pictures of my look. I'm very excited to see what other collabs MAC has in store in the near future.
