It's not a new story for anyone who knows me and my siblings about attending Salt Lake Comic Con every year. It's another year and this time we dress up for once as a group. Henry and Mika dressed up as the Night's Watch from Game of Thrones. Nita and myself dressed up as Witches. Talk about fun times as we walked around the convention center visiting vendors and enjoying each others company. This year SLCC was not as exciting as the previous years. Less booths but the same Vendors, entertainment was not great, Celebrities was ok but not great and I feel like paying to get into SLComic Con wasn't really worth it. So I didn't care to stay too long at Comic Con because it didn't seem exciting to be there. The volunteers were more mean and aggressive. To me, if you're volunteering you should be a bit more happy to be at a Con for free unless the people that you volunteer with aren't being good to you. Which would suck especially if they are your managers or captains, than I would be mean too. Here's my thoughts about being a Salt Lake Comic Con attendee, go for a day and than you seen it all. Really, that it! Honestly, it's not worth paying for VIP or Gold cause there is no difference in what you get beside a t-shirt that wasn't even nice enough to wear. Oh you get a $30 Photo OP coupon that expires on the first day of the Con. Really SLCC? It seems like they enjoy taking your money but screw you over for what you pay for!?! Don't make sense. Also I witness a volunteer who was being nice and courteous to the guests as he directed the traffic but just one guest felt entitled just because she was a VIP member to be rude at him and also swear at him just because he was asking her that she needed to tap her badge out because thats the rules for everyone who enters into the Convention center. But she refused and made a big scene to the point that the volunteer told her a few times to please tap her badge and threaten him which both of them got a bit heated. He tried to leave it but she started swearing at him and he got fed up stood up for him self and did swear back to her. He could of backed away, but in his case he did not like to be treated rudely or cursed at by anyone. So his unpaid volunteer manager talk down to him like he was a kid and tried to justify for the rude lady's action. And they kicked him out for standing for his right and did nothing to the rude lady who was causing a bigger uglier scene. If you're a manager or captain at these conventions and not getting paid to be in that position, don't try to be power hungry over the people who are there to help with the same cause that you're helping out with too. And you wonder why your volunteers don't return back to help out at these supposedly fun Cons? People like that ruins fun events like these every year and it sucks. Too many brown nose peeps do this in every field of work, school, religion and volunteer atmosphere. Thats why there are soon many unresolved issues and reoccurring issues that repeats itself because no one does anything about it or pretend like they care about it and still nothing has changed. I've volunteer before and I know how things goes behind the scene. And too be honest with you, it was fun but then power hungry people ruin it and thats why I don't care to volunteer or go to those events ever again. This is my last year and I won't spend my money there ever again. I had too many bad experiences with Salt Lake Comic Con and they don't give a shit about it. That's why I wouldn't go or recommend it to anyone cause it NOT WORTH IT! I prefer San Diego Comic Con. Worth every penny! Better Vendors, Food, Entertainment, Panels and Celebrities!
I know my little opinion won't change anything but I just voiced it anyways! I had fun because I was with my family and we celebrated my husband birthday too. That is it. Nothing more nothing less.
You make your own decisions in what you want to do when it comes to things in life like this. Thanks to my sister Jaunita and brother Henry for not killing anyone at SLCC for being douche bags. We may be straight forward speaking people but we aint idiots when it comes to our lives, value, views, opinions and freedoms. We were raised by a strong willed mother and a hard core military father, so we know how to deal with anything! That's my little thoughts about it and I'm going to post my photos with my family cause thats the only entertaining thing to post!
I've always admire people who can sew or designed clothes or costumes. So I wanted to give it a try and it look ok for my first try. I made a cloak and under armor for my twin brother. It's a Nights Watch costume from Game of Thrones. I bought a Jon snow looking cloak for Mika on his birthday. And he wanted to dress up for Comic Con but didn't wanted to dress up alone. So I ask my brother if he wanted to dress up with Mika and he was happy to participate. I stayed up all night making his costume and it looked cool for a last minute thing. Thanks bro for being my genie pig in trying my home made costume. Luv ya!
Every year has always been a new adventure when it comes to my husband. About 3 years ago, Mika and i started watching a HBO TV series called Game of Thrones. It's an interesting show that had a bunch of raunchy parts that I didn't cared to watch it any further. The stories was awesome but I couldn't watch some of those scenes and plus we stopped paying for cable. So we eventually stopped watching it. Last year we wanted to get back into it and I just surpass the annoying scenes and enjoyed watching the show. Now its 2017 and its September 22, what better way to recognized my husbands birthday by decorating our living room area with the Game of Thrones theme. It turned out really cool but I wished that I was here to see Mika's reaction but I was at Comic Con. Oh well I always seen his reaction and its always the same but I like watching him do it anyways. lol Here are a few photos and videos of Mika's Game of Thrones theme decor.
Happy birthday Mika, I hope you like it!
This week is transfer week! Where missionaries get reassigned to new areas! I was informed that I will stay in Spring Creek for another 6 weeks. I am happy to stay because I love the people here haha.
It is getting really cold here. According to the members in my ward, Spring Creek faces the worst winters in all of the country. They told me to prepare for a long cold winter. Just last week we were in the triple digits. And this week it's been at freezing point. haha so like what the heck lol its only September!
Im not a fan of the weather here...mostly because we spend most of the time outside. I thought it would be like Utah but it's surprisingly very different! Im not used to it. haha Im either dying of heat of freezing cold.
But I guess it doesn't matter how the weather is...It won't stop me from going out and preaching the gospel!
Well this week was fun...we got chased by a Rottweiler which was really scary. haha Luckily we got away safely lol there have been a lot of dog attacks here smh. But it's okay cuz we have pepper spray and the Lord.
This week we taught a Native American family who recently moved here from a Indian reservation in New Mexico. They are really nice! They are not members. We taught them the Plan of Salvation and invited them to read the Book of Mormon..they invited us over for dinner tomorrow! We hope to teach them more and get them baptized! Prayers for the Hana family!!!
Doctrine and Covenants 10:5 I really love this scripture! so go look it up hah
Hey so this week was basically a big bag of mixed emotions it was gonna be good but things ended up turning upside down... One of our investigators the one I've talked about a couple of times in some of my past emails who was doing super good ended up not getting baptized... One of the reasons being her Grandma at the last minute was like postpone the baptism! But yup I guess that may have made our investigator mad or something because sadly she ended up running away and is staying somewhere else for the time being. To be honest that was made my week kinda sad... But we had a fun Branch Activity this last Saturday and it was a blast I love being with all the members here on Yap and plus we had a couple investigators show up too! (Besides the one that ran away) But yeah well I hope yallz had a better week than I did! Hopefully things will be better this next week! I know the Savior has a plan for each and every one of his children and I hope all things can work out! Alright much love to yallz! OFA ATU!!
Everyone needs that moment in their life to just take a nice walk at the park and enjoy nature. I know I did enjoy walking around wheeler farms in Murray, Utah. Lots of animals, farm lands, homes and areas to walk and have a nice picnic with family and friends. Mika and I wanted to get out of the house and chill at the park. Playing Pokemon Go and seeing the different parts of the farm. Let's just say it was a beauty cool day. The Sky was filled with cute fluffy clouds and the sunset was colorful as ever. You don't have to have all the money in the world to enjoy the outdoors or spending time with loved ones. I'm grateful for my life and the moments I have with many awesome people like my family! Have a wonderful Sabbath everyone!
